Welcome to the first installment of “Sips and Snacks.” Each episode will take us to Fermental, a bottle shop in the Cargo District in Wilmington. There, we will meet with Ashley Rogers – The beer and wine guru, who will pick out the perfect beer and the perfect wine to pair with the flavors of the snacks we bring in. Think about it… When you’re having an adult beverage, you’re not always having fish or a fancy Italian dinner. No, a lot of times you’re snacking on some potato chips or popcorn. Maybe you’re having a handful of gummy worms or your favorite Little Debbie treat. Wouldn’t it be nice to know what beer or wine would go well with your those goodies? And so, “Sips and Snacks” was born.
In this episode, we bring the cheesy goodness of Cheetos to Fermental, to see what beer and wine Ashley picks to pair perfectly with this delicious snack. Check out the video here:
The best part is if you can’t find the exact beer or wine we use, Ashley will point you in the right direction of what kind of beer or wine you’re looking for. Like in this case, the beer was a German Lager. We used one specific kind, but if you can’t find that one, you can try a different German Lager. He does the same thing with the wine. AND, he explains why the pairing works. He goes into detail about what flavors are brought out with the food and drink pairing. Try it for yourself!
