It’s Episode 53 of Luke and Naomi On-Air: The Podcast. Thanks for joining us again!
We kickoff this week’s episode with some Twitter talk. Looks like Elon Musk wants to change Twitter to “X,” but he also wants to change some of the lingo we’ve been using like “followers,” “tweeting,” and all that. So, big changes are possibly coming to that social media platform, if you still use it. And apparently Zuckerberg and Musk are feuding, and somehow Zuckerberg is tied up in this. Perfect.
We tell you about a little roadtrip we took this weekend, so Naomi could see one of her bucket-list bands. We made the drive up to Virginia Beach to see Fall Out Boy. And we made the most out of the quick, weekend getaway. We took our time driving up, stopped and got coffee at a little coffee shop (in a town called River Bend, I believe), we stopped at a brewery after we were settled in the hotel, but before the show. It was called New Realm and it was a beautiful venue – Plenty of outdoor seating, a stage, and lots of beer taps outside. Then of course we made our way to the concert, where Naomi was able to cross this band off her “must see” list. Check out some of the pictures in our Photo Gallery from Fall Out Boy in Virginia Beach. But then…
We had Uber chaos. We were smart and took an Uber to the concert. It cost us less that $12, and it was right down the road from where we were staying. The problem was getting an Uber back to the hotel. Talk about price gouging. You have hundreds, if not thousands of people trying to get an Uber. How long did it take us to get less than two miles back to our hotel? And how much did we end up paying? Check out the story in the podcast episode at the bottom of this page.
In this episode we also talk about expensive water at concerts and how you could make a killing just going to Costco or Sam’s Club and buying a pack of water, then turning around and selling those bottles fo a buck or two each. Luke also has your random facts – Your weekly dose of “Did You Know.” And we discuss the trademark on “Taco Tuesdays” being given up by the owner. Yay! Taco Tuesday should be for everyone!
Did you do your “homework” this week? Man, we had an interesting and fun Facebook topic for you: “The year is 2045. The first Astronauts have landed on Mars. They find a cave with a human skeleton and 4 words written on the cave wall. What are the 4 words?” Some of our favorite answers included Chris’ response of “Don’t drink the water,” and Juan may have won “Listener of the Day” (if we still gave out those awards) for his answer of “It’s the Wong place.” Now, Juan used to listen to the morning show back in New Mexico, and knew our love for the TV Show “Futurama.” His answer is based on Amy Wong’s family and their home on Mars. Very clever. And very well done. You can hear more of the answers in the podcast!
And we didn’t forget – Of course we have another Under a Rock Review. This is a movie Naomi knew next to nothing about before we started watching it. She sits down for the 2000 film starring Julia Roberts, “Erin Brockovich.” Did she enjoy the movie? What were her least favorite parts? And would she recommend it to someone who hasn’t seen it?
