Beer and Adventures in Asheville, What Are You Better Than Most At, and Naomi’s Under a Rock Review of “Smokey and the Bandit” | Podcast Episode 77

Outside the Burial Brewery in Asheville, North Carolina, April 2024

Hello and welcome to another episode of Luke and Naomi On-Air: The Podcast. Thanks for joining us for Episode 77.

We very excited to be recording today (and a little proud of ourselves), because we had just gotten back from our trip to Asheville, North Carolina. Usually, if we go somewhere for the weekend, we end up taking the next week off, but we’re working on consistency. Look at us go! Anyway, yes, we just got back from Asheville! We had been looking forward to this trip for a little while now, and Luke even called it his beer pilgrimage.

If you don’t know, Asheville is a very… “hipster” area. The downtown scene is amazing, and there’s many, Many, MANY breweries and different adult beverage establishments. We drove up there, got settled in our hotel, and then got an Uber to one of the breweries. We stopped at a couple of locations throughout the night, but wrapped up early so we could be well-rested (well, enough rested) for a hike the following day. We did our hike, which was absolutely amazing, and a little harder than we had expected it to be, and then had our big beer night out. We hit SO many different breweries and bars like “One World Brewing,” “Green Man Brewery,” Wicked Weed Brewing’s “Funkatorium,” and the whole reason we made our trip to Asheville, the one brewery Luke HAD to go to (and the place where we definitely spent the most money) “Burial.” Shoutout to Chip and Tiffany, who we met at “One World Brewing!” We did have a couple of other stops, had some amazing food, and picked up some souvenirs. We’ll have all the pictures of our adventures in a photo gallery for you – You’ll be able to find it under our “Photos and Videos” section on our website.

Oh, we also made a stop at a zoo as we were leaving town to head home. Now, Naomi looked into this zoo beforehand, and it was a must-stop. Because of an animal they have. If you know Luke and Naomi On-Air, you could probably guess the animal – Red Pandas. You’ll see some of those pictures in the photo gallery, as well.

Coming up, we’ll have another Sips and Snacks video for you. We’ll give away the snack right now, too. It’s Fritos. And it all has to do with Chip that we met at “One World Brewing,” and the story he shared with us about a person he ran into on the Appalachian Trail. You can hear us (doing our best) paraphrasing the story in the podcast video at the bottom of this page.

We do have an update on our plants and Naomi’s brown thumb. It looks like we have little sprouts and our salsa garden is growing okay so far. We’ll see what happens in the coming weeks.

Luke has your recurrent dose of “Did You Know,” we discuss which Robin Hood movie Naomi needs to see (which we asked for your help in deciding), and we kick off our Facebook Topic for next week – “You are paired with 100 random humans. If you are better at something than those 100 people, you’ll win a billion dollars. What thing would you choose? What are you better at the most? Or at least, what do you think you’re better at?

And we have another Under a Rock Review for you. This week, we go waaayyyy back to 1977, for the comedy, “Smokey and the Bandit.” Now, THIS is a classic. But what does Naomi have to say? Does it hold up in 2024? And what did she like about the movie? Find out those answers and more, in this week’s podcast episode below:
