WE KILLED A PLANT! New Emojis, Is a Taco a Sandwich, and Naomi’s Under a Rock Review of “Face/Off” | Podcast Episode 81

Tacos and a Burrito from a Food Truck While at Fermental in Wilmington

Happy Episode 81 of Luke and Naomi On-Air: The Podcast. Welcome back and thanks for joining us!

We have new recording equipment!! Very exciting! And a little distracting. Hopefully, it doesn’t cut out while we’re recording this episode (spoiler alert: it doesn’t). We missed last week recording because it was Memorial Day Weekend. We actually completely forgot what day it was at one point. Naomi always calls her family on Sunday, and she realized late Sunday afternoon while sitting on the beach that it was Sunday. And she hadn’t called or texted them! That’s when you know it was a good weekend.

Also, quick update on the salsa garden. Well, it officially happened. We are down a plant. Naomi tries to blame it on Luke, but honestly, it was probably just nature – The wind or maybe a bird. The green onion, that was growing beautifully, was on its side. After trying to prop it back up, it just started turning brown and died. RIP. The rest of the plants are doing well and have been transplanted to bigger pots. Let’s see if they produce in the coming months.

Alright, let’s get to it! There’s new emojis coming out. We should start seeing them in the fall and into early 2025. Some of the new emojis include one with bags under its’ eyes, looking completely exhausted and a leafless tree. There will also be a fingerprint, a harp, and a shovel. Interesting enough. And a few others that should be rolled out at the end of the year.

We discuss the things that people only pretend to like doing, like texting and messaging with coworkers, running, or wearing high heels. We dive deep into this list from Buzzfeed (or Reddit, or whoever), and it gets a little heated… and ironic? Check out some of the other things that made the list in the podcast episode at the bottom of this page.

We have a terrible movie quiz, Luke has your recurrent dose of “Did You Know,” and we get you all arguing about whether a taco or burrito can be considered a sandwich after a guy had to fight for his right to open up a taco and burrito joint in a strip mall. Looks like most people agree with this guy and can argue their point for a taco or burrito NOT being a sandwich. But you can hear all the answers in this week’s podcast episode below.

And now we have made it to “that” time. Movie time. Naomi’s Under a Rock Review. This week, Naomi watches the action/thriller from 1997, starring John Travolta and Nicolas Cage, “Face/Off.” Listen as Naomi takes the roller coaster ride of Castor Troy vs Sean Archer and Sean Troy vs Castor Archer! And how she didn’t know this was an actual movie, she first heard of it as a bit on “Family Guy.” Check it out – Podcast Episode 81, right here:
