Hurricane Helene, the Greatest American Dishes, and Luke’s Under a Rock Review of “Scarface” | Podcast Episode 93

Spaghetti and Meatballs

Welcome to another episode of Luke and Naomi On-Air: The Podcast. Thanks for joining us for Episode 93.

We’re back! If this is your first episode of Luke and Naomi On-Air, thanks for giving us a shot! We’re a married morning show team, that have moved from the radiowaves to the internet-waves. Our podcast has a lot of the elements that our morning show had, like a weekly topic that you can be a part of, various stories, and some pop culture news here and there. But. we’ve also added Naomi’s Under a Rock Review, where she sits down and watches classic movies that everyone has seen… except her. You can re-live your first watch, through Naomi’s eyes. This week though, we’re switching whose sitting in the hot seat, but we’ll get to that in just a bit.

First, we have a couple of things to get to…

We’re safe. You’ve probably heard all of the news of Hurricane Helene that hit Florida, then made its way through Georgia, South Carolina, and Western North Carolina. We only got a little bit of rain and wind from the storm, but our neighbors in the western part of the state have been absolutely devastated. The flooding is unbelievable. The damage is horrific. And the videos coming out from that area are shocking. The main highway I-40, linking Western North Carolina to Eastern Tennessee was completely destroyed. And there are many areas that are completely cut off. Our thoughts are with those affected by this tragedy.

And now for an awkward transition as we get into our show…

A place called Bird Box is selling this gourmet chicken sandwich with a chicken leg attached to it. We’re not sure how you can call it “gourmet,” it seems like a pretty gross publicity stunt, but you can get the full details in the podcast episode at the bottom of this page.

And speaking of food, we have a list of the 20 greatest American dishes. And these are dishes you can get anywhere (they’re not specific to a certain restaurant, or anything like that). Some of the foods included chocolate chip cookies, spaghetti and meatballs, and hamburgers. We also dive into the most clever WI-FI names, and Luke has your recurrent dose of “Did You Know” – some random facts to get you through until our next episode. We also go over your answers to last week’s topic: “What social media accounts do you follow?” We wanted to know about the other entertainers, musicians, influencers that you follow (and maybe get a couple of ideas of who we should be following).

This week, we’ve flipped the script (again), and Luke will be doing the Under a Rock Review. This is his third review (“Speed” and “It’s a Wonderful Life” were the first two). Luke gets comfortable on the couch and watches “Scarface” for the first time. Did he like the movie? What surprised him about it? And would he watch it again? Hear as Luke meets Tony Montana and follows his journey from immigrant to drug lord, in podcast episode 93 right here:
