Welcome back to another segment of Sips and Snacks, where we make our way to our favorite bottle shop, Fermental, and meet with Ashley Rogers who pairs a beer and wine with a snack of our choosing.
This episode, we’re getting into the fall spirit, as the weather gets a little cooler and we put summer behind us. Our snack of choice is apple cider donuts.
We bring in our donut treats to Fermental in the Cargo District and meet with Ashley Rogers our beer and wine pairing guru. Once again, he mixes things up a bit. First of all, instead of an apple wine as you make think would make a perfect pairing, he decides to go with an off dry riesling. Just wait until you hear his reasoning behind it!
And for the beer? Well, Ashley had a change of heart at the last minute. The first pick was a coffee stout, which makes sense. But he wanted to switch it up, go out on a limb, and try something a little more unique. He chose a smoked pumpkin porter. Now, Ashley knows Luke and Naomi are NOT pumpkin fans, and that’s especially true when it comes to beer. But, Ashley reassured us that the pumpkin is light and you get more of the actual porter flavor. Let’s see if he’s right, and if it pairs well with the cider donuts…
What a pairing… AGAIN! Ashley Rogers knows what he’s doing when he’s mixing these flavors, even in the more unique ones! The pumpkin beer was not bad at all. And if you’re a fan of pumpkin and pumpkin flavoring, we think you would still enjoy this beer, too. And the wine fit perfect, as well. Check it out for yourself and let us know what you think!
