Happy Episode 99. We are one away from our 100th episode – How exciting! Thanks for joining us for Luke and Naomi On-Air: The Podcast.
If you’re new to Luke and Naomi On-Air, welcome! We are a married morning show team that has brought our show to the internet. We discuss various stories, we have a topic that we invite you to join in on, and we have Naomi’s Under a Rock review. It was always a joke on our morning show that Naomi “lived under a rock,” becasue anytime we discussed movies, she couldn’t be a part of the conversation. She hasn’t seen any movie. Well, we decided to change that. Each episode she watches a classic movie for the first time, and reviews it. Re-live your first watch of iconic films like “Footloose,” “Cool Runnings,” and “Rocky,” through Naomi’s eyes. We’ll have another great review coming up on this podcast, as well.
Quick recap since our last episode, Happy Thanksgiving! We hope you had a great one. Ours was a little bittersweet. We didn’t have family come visit us this year, but that also meant a little less stress of hosting and planning. We also participated in our annual Black Friday Celebration. No, it’s not getting up early and going shopping. We always make our way to Fermental in the Cargo District for their Black Friday Event. It’s a celebration of stouts and other dark beers. We also went to a nice fundraising event at Fort Fisher Aquarium, called “Jingle with the Jellies.” It’s been a busy couple of days! Good thing we’ve done some Christmas shopping and got a jump on our decorations early this year.
Speaking of Thanksgiving, a big shoutout to everyone who sent in pictures of their thanksgiving plates. Most of them looked very tasty. Sorry, Mr. Rogers for your dinner that did not look like the feast we usually expect when we think of thanksgiving.
Next week is our 100th episode of Luke and Naomi On-Air: The Podcast, and we’ve been making big plans over the last couple of weeks. We usually don’t plan a video ahead of time, but we knew we wanted to do something special for 1-0-0, so we’ll let you in on the secret. Next week’s Under a Rock review is going to be “The Godfather.” A big movie for a big episode. We also have a few other surprises in store for the next episode, but you’ll have to wait until then to find out!
We discuss the trending pet names for 2024, and there are some good ones (and of course some expected ones). The list is from Rover.com, and includes the most common names, but also some of the most unique ones. Some of the most common names included, “Bella,” “Luna,” Max,” and “Oliver.” But how about the interesting names? How about “provolone,” for a cat’s name? Or “poutine” for a dog? What’s with all the food names for animals?! You can hear more of the list, in the podcast episode at the bottom of this page.
Luke is a huge fan of “A Christmas Story,” and puts out a leg lamp in our window every single year. But a Florida man has him beat, after he put up a 20-foot leg lamp. Now that just seems excessive!
We also talk about over-decorated Christmas trees, a man who fell into a well in the woods, but no one would rescue him for the CRAZIEST reason, and of course, Luke has your recurrent dose of “Did You Know,” – Some random facts to hold you over until episode 100.
As we get closer to Christmas, we wanted to do a holiday movie for Naomi’s Under a Rock Review. But the hard part is, she’s actually seen a lot of the classic holiday movies. Luckily, we found one she hasn’t – The 1996 family classic “Jingle All The Way,” starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. How did Naomi like this movie? What did she think of the hottest toy, “Turbo Man”? Would she recommend this movie to someone else who hasn’t seen it? Find out these answers, and get the full stories to all our topics, in this week’s podcast episode here:
