R-Rated Fortune Cookies, a Bridge From the US to Europe, and Naomi’s Under a Rock Review of “Kill Bill: Volume 1” | Podcast Episode 105

Fortune Cookie Graphic That Says "You're Going to Eat Too Much Chinese Food"

Hello and welcome (back) to Luke and Naomi On-Air: The Podcast. Thanks for joining us for Episode 105. We appreciate it!

If you’re new to the show, hello! We’re a married morning show team that used to host a radio show in Roswell, New Mexico. After moving to Wilmington, North Carolina, our show moved from the airwaves to the internet. It’s still a lot of the same show – We have a variety of stories we discuss, Luke has his random facts and his dad jokes, and we have a topic that we want you to participate in. But we also now bring you Naomi’s Under a Rock Review. Naomi hasn’t seen any of the movies, and when classic movies were referenced on the radio show, she was clueless. So now she’s watching all of them. And reviewing them! Re-live your first watch of some of the best (and worst) films, through Naomi’s eyes. We’ll have another Under a Rock Review for you at the end of the podcast.

We have a quick recap of the Four Nations hockey championship going on, and an update on our Under A Rock Review questions for the movie District 9 (back in episode 94). And Luke has your recurrent dose of “Did You Know,” some random facts to get you through until our next episode.

Let’s talk fortune cookies! There’s a place in Australia that does R-rated fortune cookies, and apparently there was a mistake with the delivery. These R-rated cookies made their way to a regular restaurant. Let’s be honest, that would be pretty funny. You’re sitting at home, just finishing your Chinese takeout, and you read your fortune, and it’s something slightly inappropriate. Or it has a cuss word in it. I don’t know about you, but we think that would be a nice surprise. Unfortunately, the restaurant that received these cookies had no idea, and soon got complaints. Some people are no fun!

If there was a bridge from the US to Europe, would you drive on it? Would you take the couple-thousand mile journey over the water, to visit another country? This question has been going around online, and we figured it’s time we jumped in (and of course, we’re going to ask for your opinions on this one, too). Naomi also learns that Loch Ness is a place (and she probably won’t have to worry about the Loch Ness Monster in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean). Hear the whole story, if you can between the laughter, in the podcast episode at the bottom of this page. No seriously, we both lose it, and can’t stop!

And we didn’t forget… There’s still time for Naomi’s Under a Rock Review. She sits down to watch the 2003 action movie from Quentin Tarantino, “Kill Bill.” We’re just watching volume one this week. Spoiler alert, volume two is coming next week. And spoiler alert number two, Naomi finds out there isn’t a Kill Bill Volume 3. Did she like the movie? What did she know about it before watching? And what drove her crazy about the film? Find out, in this week’s podcast episode, right here:
