Hey! Thanks for joining us for another installment of Luke and Naomi On-Air: The Podcast. Welcome to episode 109.
If you’re new to the show, hello! We’re a married morning show team that have moved from the airwaves to the internet. We still have bits and pieces of our morning show like the various stories we discuss and a topic that we ask you to participate in, but we also have Naomi’s “Under a Rock” review, where she recaps classic movies that everyone has seen, but she’s watching for the first time. Re-live your first watch of favorite films like “Ghostbusters,” “Rocky,” and “True Lies.” We’ll have another “Under a Rock” review for you in just a little bit.
But first, we have a few things to get to…
Hopefully you’ve been keeping an eye on our social media pages. We had some fun with the “Whisper Challenge,” that everyone’s doing. Check out the video here and here. And make sure if you’re not already following us, do so on our Facebook Page: Luke & Naomi On-Air, our YouTube Channel: Luke & Naomi On-Air, and our TikTok: LukeandNaomiOnAir.
We’ll also have some interesting content coming up as we’re currently shooting a behind-the-scenes video, and this weekend we will be participating in Wilmington’s FEAST event, “Craft and Cuisine.” This specific event has local breweries teaming up with local restaurants to provide small bites paired with adult beverages. Be sure to be on the lookout for these great videos and stories.
Of course, Luke has your random facts – Your recurrent dose of “Did You Know.” And we found out what to name the little segment of stories we talk about before we get into the Facebook topic and our “Under a Rock” review. It’s the “Morning Show.” It seemed fitting, seeing as these are the kind of stories and segments we would have when were were doing our morning show in New Mexico. Let’s dive a little deeper into some of these stories…
Like a woman from Texas who won the lottery, but might not actually get the money. Believe it or not, this is actually a fear of Naomi’s and a reason why she doesn’t really play the lottery. Can you imagine winning millions of dollars, but then being told that you might not get that money? Apparently the woman bought her ticket through an app called “Jackpocket.” But the argument is that a lottery ticket needs to be bought with cash and because she bought it off an app she “technically” didn’t use cash. Is this fair?! Check out the full story in the podcast video at the bottom of this page (16:42)
We also go over our answers from last week’s Facebook topic, which was a LOT of fun! We set up this interesting scenario: You get $5,000,000 but you’re obligated to live in a randomly chosen place for 10 years. Then we had you use “random street view” to find out where your random place was. Could you do it? Our answers were phenomenal for this one! Some listeners wound up in other countries like Cambodia or Brazil or even Switzerland. Some landed in interesting places in the US like Mississippi, Utah, and even one in California. And ours?! Oh, man… We are not too happy with where we randomly landed. Hear the full story in the video below (28:27)
And we’ve brought back “Listener of the Week!” You’ve got your chance to win those bragging rights with next week’s Facebook topic! We’re talking about the show “Severance” (although we haven’t seen it, and you don’t have to be familiar with the show to participate). In the series, there is technology that allows you to go to work for 8 hours and when you come home, you have no recollection of what you did at work. And while you’re at work, you have no memories of your home life, you just know work. It’s a legit “severance” between your work-life and your home-life. The question is: If that technology was available today, would you do it? Let us know your answers! You can comment on the post on our Facebook Page, you can leave a comment on our YouTube video, Spotify, email, anywhere! You can even leave a comment at the bottom of this page! Best answer wins “Listener of the Week!”
Now, it’s time for the movie! It’s Naomi’s “Under a Rock” review. We’ve got a great one this week, with Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Ruffalo. Naomi watches the thrilling mystery film from 2010, “Shutter Island.” Did she enjoy the movie? Was she able to guess the twist? And what did she think about that last line? Find out all the details (34:40) and more, in this week’s podcast episode below:
Original Air Date: March 24, 2025
