Craft and Cuisine Adventures, a Pilot Without a Passport, and Naomi’s Under a Rock Review of “Kingpin” | Podcast Episode 110

A food and beer pairing from Craft and Cuisine in downtown Wilmington

It’s Luke and Naomi On-Air: The Podcast. Thanks for joining us for our 110th installment of the show!

If you’re new to Luke and Naomi, welcome! We’re a morning show team that has traded in the airwaves for the internet (and some sleep). We still bring a lot of our radio show to our podcast, we have Luke’s dad jokes, a topic that you get to participate in, and we have our “morning show” segment, where we discuss weird and crazy stories that are trending. But we also bring a new feature in – Naomi’s “Under a Rock” reviews. Luke has seen all the movies, and Naomi has not. Now, she views the classic movies that everyone knows. Re-live your first watch of movies like “Ghostbusters,” “Shutter Island,” and “Rocky.” We have another great review coming up in just a bit. But first, we have a few things to get to…

First, we have to brag about our weekend. We got the opportunity to go to Feast Wilmington’s “Craft and Cuisine” event at Live Oak Bank Pavilion. It was Ah-Mazing! Local restaurants teamed up with breweries to make small plates that paired with craft beer. The pairings were so well done, the beers quenched our thirst, and the food was phenomenal. Check out the full story and see the video of the adventures here.

Time to dive into our “Morning Show” bits. A couple in China recently made the news after trying to film a social media video and landing in the hospital, stuck to each other. And not in the way you’re thinking. The two were creating a video where she shoved her hand into her boyfriend’s mouth, and it got stuck. Yikes. They seem to be in good spirits about the whole situation and we’ve got a nice stillshot you can see in the podcast video at the bottom of this page. (14:51)

Imagine being on a plane that’s traveling over the Pacific Ocean, and all of a sudden there’s an announcement that you’ll have to turn aroud and head back to the United States. You would probably be a little relieved when you found out it wasn’t a mechinical issue, but you would probably get a little upset once you found out it was because the pilot forgot his passport! Luke goes OFF on this one! Why do they have to turn around the plane just because the pilot forgot his passport?! Luke has lots of suggestions of what they could have done that would still be safe, but wouldn’t inconvenience the passengers. Hear his side in the video below. (18:33)

Of course, Luke has your random facts – Your recurrent dose of “Did You Know,” we discuss answers from last week’s Facebook topic, “If severance (like the tv show) technology was available, would you severe your work-life and your home-life completely?, And we kick off a new topic for next week focusing on your pets!

This week, Naomi experiences some comic relief (or at least atttempts to), by watching the 1996 comedy, “Kingpin” for this week’s “Under a Rock” review. Luke is cracking up, does Naomi feel the same? Would she recommend this movie to someone who hasn’t seen it? What was her favorite part? Find out all these answers and more, in the podcast episode here:
