Hey! Thanks for joining us for another segment of Luke and Naomi On-Air: The Podcast. Welcome to episode number 112!
If you’re new to Luke and Naomi On-Air, hello! We’re so glad you found us! We’re a married radio show team that have jumped from the airwaves to the internet. We still do a lot of our radio “bits,” like Luke’s dad jokes, our weekly Facebook topic that you get to be a part of and our “morning show,” which is a bunch of random, fun, trending stories that we share with you! We also have a couple of new things just for the podcast like Naomi’s “Under a Rock” review, where she reviews classic movies that everyone has already seen (but she’s watching for the first time). But before we get to that review, we have a few things to get to first…
If you’re not subscribed to us on YouTube, you definitely should! You would have gotten a notification about the latest video that we posted. In honor of Easter (and a birthday celebration), we decided to do an Easter Egg Hunt for Luke. It was an unexpected surprise for him, but we’re sure he was amused by it. You can see the look of pure joy on his face, in the video here.
There’s a new list out suggesting the societal rules that we may want to consider getting rid of. A big one that always comes to mind is saying, “Bless you,” after someone sneezes. It feels like you have to, like you’re supposed to. But why? You don’t know that stranger on the bus! How about double texts? Or respecting your elders? That one might hit a few nerves! Check out the full story in the podcast video at the bottom of this page (08:10).
Are nicknames dying out? Seems like when we were growing up, everyone had a nickname, but now…? And we’re not just talking about the goofy nicknames, like calling your friend “Tex,” or that one kid that was called “Tiny” because he was a big kid. We’re talking about nicknames like “Bill” for William and “Jon” for Jonathan, too. Naomi is on a mission now, to give everyone she knows a nickname. Long live the those unique aliases! (17:05)
We have to go over our answers to last week’s Facebook topic, and crown a new “Listener of the Week!” We had too much fun with this goofy one – “Replace a word from a movie title with the word “undies”” Well… Let’s just say the answers did not disappoint! Some of our favorites included “Wolf of Undies,” “Charlie and the Undies Factory,” and “Indiana Jones and the Undies of Doom.” Brian from England’s mum even got involved in this one! Big congratulations to Dorsey who won bragging rights as our “Listener of the Week” with his answer of “Fantastic Undies and Where to Find Them.” (23:18) Make sure you join in with next week’s topic when we talk about nicknames, for your chance to win our next “Listener of the Week!” Keep an eye out for the Facebook Post on the Luke and Naomi On-Air Facebook Page.
And it’s about that time again, Naomi has another “Under a Rock” review. Seeing as Sunday (the day we usually watch our movie) was April 20th, we thought we would find a movie fitting for that day. And we did. Naomi watches the 1995 comedy starring Ice Cube and Chris Tucker, “Friday.” What did she think of the movie? What weird way does she describe Deebo? And will she be watching “Friday” again or its’ sequel? Check out those answers and more, in this week’s podcast episode, right here (29:33):
Original Air Date: April 21, 2025
