We’re Back! Not-So-Polar Plunge Changes, A Husband in Trouble, and Naomi’s Under a Rock Review of “This Is Spinal Tap” | Podcast Episode 118

Luke and Naomi Running into the Atlantic Ocean on New Year's Day 2025

We’re back! Did you miss us?? Thanks for joining us after our little break, for Luke and Naomi On-Air: The Podcast, episode #118.

Can you believe it’s been four months since our last podcast episode?! We had mentioned we were going to be taking a break for a couple of weeks, but those couple of weeks ended up being a couple of months once we finally got settled. In the last couple of months, we moved, Naomi switched careers (which meant a new work schedule and a new routine), we had our five year anniversary vow renewal ceremony, family in town, and all the normal things that happen in life! It’s been busy!

But we’re back!

And we’re so happy to be back! We’ve missed the podcast, and hope you have missed it, too.

We’ve been working on a couple of things behind-the-scenes, and have a couple of things coming up. Our annual Not-So-Polar Plunge will be back. This year however, we’re finally teaming up with a charity to help raise a couple of dollars (while we act crazy and run into the ocean on New Year’s Day). We’ll be raising funds for the Caribbean Surf Connection.

While on our trip to the Dominican Republic earlier this year, we spent some time with Jorge, the founder of this great organization. According to the Caribbean Surf Connection,

Our goal is to provide all children with the chance to experience the joy and benefits of surfing in the Dominican Republic. We offer sponsorship for kids which includes; competition entry fee, travel expense and food assistance at each competition. We aim to create a safe and inclusive environment where all children can learn and develop their surfing skills, while also fostering personal growth, confidence, and a sense of community.

As soon as we heard about this foundation, we knew we wanted to get involved. We’ll have more details in the coming weeks, but get ready! Because we’ll be raising money for the Caribbean Surf Connection during our Not-So-Polar Plunge!!

Stay tuned!!!

We dive into a strange story of a husband forgetting his wife at a gas station… For like, 200 miles!!! You know this guy is going to be in big trouble! But there’s something a little more crazy in the story… HE WASN’T ALONE! His older daughter was in the vehicle as well, and didn’t say anything!! Something more has to be going on, right?! Hear the full story in the podcast episode at the bottom of this page.

WAIT!!! Before we get to Naomi’s Under a Rock Review, we have to tell you about our special culinary experience that we’ve been posting hints about on Facebook for the last couple of days. It was Bill Oakley Presents: An American Culinary Curiosity Dinner. This seven course unique experience offered us regional dishes from all over the country, that we had never heard of! Not only was the dinner such an amazing experience, but we also got a chance to hang out with one of The Simpson’s writers and executive producers, Bill Oakley! We definitely didn’t spend enough time talking about this event on the podcast, but you can read all the details (and see some cool pictures from the night) below:

Alright, it’s that time… Naomi’s “Under a Rock Review.” To get back into the gear of things, she attempts to “crank it up to 11,” with her review of “This is Spinal Tap.” What did she think of the movie? Is it worth recommending to someone else who hasn’t seen it? What was the worst part of the movie? Get these answers and more in this week’s podcast episode here:
