Jeff K’s 10k, Nostalgic Frozen Foods, and Naomi’s Under a Rock Review of “Major League” | Podcast Episode 121

Luke and Naomi Holding Up a Box of Fish Sticks

Welcome to another episode of Luke and Naomi On-Air: The Podcast. Thanks for joining us for some fun!

If you’re new to Luke and Naomi, hello! We’re a married radio team that have moved from broadcasting over the airwaves to bringing our show to the interwebs. We still share interesting and unique stories and topics, like we would during our morning radio show. But we’ve also added some new features like Naomi’s “Under a Rock Review,” where she reviews classic movies that everyone has already seen (but she’s watching for the first time), and our “Sips and Snacks” segment, where we make our way to our favorite adult beverage establishment, Fermental, and meet with Ashley Rogers who pairs beer and wine with a snack we bring in.

Speaking of “Sips and Snacks,” we’ve got a brand new episode for you! We were back at Fermental to pair beer and wine with Halloween candy. We had pairings for Snickers, Reese’s, gummy candy, Dove dark chocolate and more. Check out the details and the video here:

Speaking of Fermental, we’ve got a big event coming up… Our President and Founder of the Wilmington Craft Beer Club, Jeff K, is about to hit a huge milestone. A lot of us craft beer aficionados use an app called “Untappd” to check in the beers we have and to rate them (think social media for beer lovers). Well, Jeff K, the one and only, will be checking in his 10,000 beer on Saturday (November 8, 2025). We’re making a whole ordeal out of this, and of course Fermental is, too. And it’s no surprise. A LOT of those 10,000 beers were checked in at, or bought and taken home from Fermental. So hey, if you’re in the Wilmington Area on Saturday, stop by Fermental. Come celebrate!

Don’t forget – We’re still taking donations for our Not-So-Polar Plunge! This year, we’re raising money for the Caribbean Surf Connection. Our goal is to sponsor as many kids as we can, but we’re putting a couple of things on the line…

If we raise over $500, Luke will have to go BACK in after we do our Not-So-Polar Plunge. That means after we all run into the ocean together, and come back out, he’ll have to turn right around and go back in!

And if we raise over $550, Naomi will go back in with Luke, too.

We’re collecting donations now through New Year’s Day – The day of the event!

We have your random facts, Luke’s recurrent dose of “Did You Know,” and we argue about what piece out of Chex Mix can get nixed. You can join that conversation on the Luke and Naomi Facebook Page, and hear the debate in the podcast video at the bottom of this page.

We also need to discuss some weird nostalgia. We’re talking about frozen foods nobody eats anymore. Remember those french bread pizzas? They were made by Red Baron and you got two delicious pizzas in a package. How about Banquet frozen dinners? That hits a little too close to home for Naomi. She LOVED those things! And would love to have one again, but knows it probably won’t taste like she remembers (and that would be a big disappointment), so she’ll just keep the memory. How about Tony’s pizza rolls or Kid Cuisine? Re-live those simpler times and catch the conversation in the video below.

In honor of the World Series wrapping up just a few days ago, Naomi watched a very fitting movie for this episode’s Under a Rock Review. She checks out the 1989 sports comedy “Major League.” Did she like it? Which character ended up being her favorite? What’s the cringe level of this movie (and did Randy Newman make that worse)?
