Worst Christmas Songs, Google’s Year-End Review, and Naomi’s Under a Rock Review of “American Pie” | Podcast Episode 125

Luke and Naomi's Christmas Tree for 2025

Hey! Thanks for joining us for Luke and Naomi On-Air: The Podcast. Welcome to Episode 125.

If you’re new to Luke and Naomi, hello! And it’s so great you’re here! We’re a married morning show team that has moved our program from the radio waves to the internet. We still do a few things from our radio days – goofy stories, Luke’s random facts, and more, but we’ve also added new features including our “Sips and Snacks” video series AND Naomi’s Under a Rock movie reviews. Re-live your first watch of classic movies like “Ghostbusters,” “Tombstone,” “Rocky,” and more, through Naomi’s eyes, as she experiences them for the first time – And she’ll let you know what she thinks! We have another great review coming up – Very special for our 100th movie review…

But first, we have a few things we would like to get to.

Before we jump into everything – Happy Thanksgiving! We had a great time with Luke’s family in town. We went out for Thanksgiving Dinner, and had an amazing meal with all the usual fixings – Mashed potatoes, stuffing, turkey, all that, but we also had shrimp and grits, crab dip, and other goodies. We checked out some of our favorite spots to bring vistors like, The Fat Pelican and Hurricane Alley’s in Carolina Beach. And we even had a fun, little gingerbread cookie house competition. Check out our creations:

And thank you to all who voted on our Facebook Page. A big congratulations to Luke’s mom Lisa, who had the most votes with her home (the cream-colored creation). And an honorable mention to Luke and his home with a chimney. Very nice touch.

We’re officially into December, which means our Not-So-Polar Plunge is less than a month away! This is the final countdown! This year, we’re raising money for The Caribbean Surf Connection, a very unique and FANTASTIC organization that teaches kids life skills, all through the power of surfing. Please consider joining us and/or donating. You can get the full details here:

Donations are being accepted through Venmo: @Naomi-Lynn-34. Please help us make a difference in children’s lives this holiday season. Also, if we raise $500, Luke has to jump BACK into the water after our Not-So-Polar Plunge, and I don’t know about you, but I really want to see that!

As always, we jump into everything with Luke’s recurrent dose of “Did You Know” – A collection of random facts. And we talk about the worst Christmas Songs. A new list has a couple of them right, but they’re forgetting key, terrible songs. “Dominic the Donkey” made the list, which we know a lot of people are happy about. But what about “All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth”? That song is AWFUL! Check out the full list in the podcast episode at the bottom of this page (10:59).

As we get closer to the end of the year, all the “End of 2025” lists are going to be coming out, including this list we have for you – Google’s Year-End Search Review. And you know there’s going to be some good things on this list (not including all the times we typed in random words to check if we were spelling things correctly). Big topics included Charlie Kirk, iPhone 17, K-Pop Demon Hunters, and tariffs. Google also broke down their review based on news stories (like the LA Fires), politics and more. And as Luke is reading over some of the items on this list, don’t be concerned, he’s not having a stroke. Some things just don’t belong together like “Bacon avocado, anxiety dance, unfortunately I do love, and Gibli…” And it gets worse from there as we searched words and phrases kids are saying and viral food trends. You gotta hear it out for yourself, in the video below (16:30).

Alright. It’s time for another Under a Rock movie review. A very special review for our 100th one… Nothing says the holidays and Merry Christmas like “American Pie.” That’s right, get ready as Naomi tries to tip-toe her way through this review. And find out all the dirty details – Did she enjoy the movie? How cringy did she find it? What was her favorite part? And would she recommend this movie to someone else who hasn’t seen it?
