Luke and Naomi are back from their travels! Thanks for coming back and joining them.
They waste no time, they know what you’re waiting for… Who was closest to the gas estimate conversation. Before the two went on vacation they had asked how much gas was going to cost them for their adventure. They left Wilmington, North Carolina, and made their way to Romulus, New York. They also mentioned they would not be driving out of their way and once arrived in Romulus, they wouldn’t be using their vehicle to get around. In the last episode, they even gave more information to help narrow down the guesses, like what kind of vehicle they have and what gas prices were in Wilmington at the time. So who was closest??
…Hang on, Naomi forgot her notebook with all that infomation. Maybe the two are a little rusty after taking a couple of weeks off. Buckle up, it’s going to be an interesting show!
Of course Luke and Naomi will share their traveling stories, but first there’s a couple of things they need to get to, like “This Week in Science.” Naomi hopes Luke will keep it a little more “simple” today, seeing as they’re both tired out. The Hadron Collider has discovered three new particles, that seemed almost understandable. There’s also been more information discovered about the T-Rex, but also dinosaurs in general. Check out the podcast below for the details.
It looks like the two have a bad case of the giggles. Who can blame them though, they are sleep deprived from their travels. Speaking of travels, they’re not going to tell you who had the closest guess in how much gas cost them (just yet), but they do mention the most expensive gas they paid for was at $4.99/gallon. The cheapest? Who knows?! You usually don’t remember those things. You just remember the shock of $4.99 a gallon!!
It takes Luke and Naomi 649.5 miles to get to Tim Hortons. The couple always makes sure they stop at one on their travels if there is one available. They usually get their Ice Capp Supremes and sandwiches or TimBit donuts. There has always been something about their sandwiches that Luke and Naomi just can’t figure out. Every time they get a sandwich from Tim Hortons, it’s like the best sandwich they ever had. Does Tim Hortons use the best quality, freshest ingredients? Are Luke and Naomi just sleep deprived so anything would taste good on their travels? Or is the food just so fake, that it tastes good? Honestly, who cares! It’s just good, and it’s a tradition for their travels. And no, this wasn’t meant to be an ad for Tim Hortons, Luke and Naomi are just die-hard fans.
The duo also talk about getting older and not being able to drive longer than 12-hours without making a stop. They dive into making it to camp, Luke’s brothers showing up, yard games, day-drinking, and a suprise visit from one of Luke’s best friends – Shout out to Pat Dowd! Naomi mentions her disappoint at some of the wineries. She compares this trip to last year when they visited Three Brothers Wineries and had a fantastic time, and in 2018 when Naomi’s family came to visit and they toured many wineries, that were so open to explaining their product and showcasing their wines, especially for a group of people who don’t know a lot about wines. That was not the case this time around. But that’s okay, that opened up more time to hit some breweries.
Shout out to Scale House, Climbing Bines, Twisted Rail, Grist Iron, and Two Goats Brewing for all the fun! And check out the Photo Gallery to see pictures of their travels.
Before we get to gas price guesses and who had the closest estimate, Luke and Naomi have to talk about the Fourth of July and a new dessert – The “French-cicle.” It’s a ketchup flavored popsicle. Gross!
Alright, you waited long enough, time for eveyone’s guesses for gas prices and who was the closest! Answers ranged from $371.51 from Doug in New Mexico, $299.95 from Todd, $311.15 from Orlando, and a BUNCH more! Who was the closest? Oh come on, you know you have to watch the podcast video below to get that answer.
