Happy Episode 43! Thanks for joining us again for another installment of Luke and Naomi On-Air: The Podcast!
We kick off this week’s show with a quick recap of our last week, which wasn’t very eventful. Naomi had to work on Saturday, afterwards we did a little shopping – We went to Trader Joe’s for the first time, so that was neat. We also started a new season of the TV Show “Alone.” And we spent a couple hours at the beach on Sunday as sort of our dry-run or rehearsal for beach season. The highlight of the week and weekend was probably Naomi’s “Under a Rock Review” of “Blazing Saddles,” which we’ll have coming up at the end of this episode. We need to get to a few other things, first…
As usual, we have your random facts – Your weekly dose of “Did You Know,” we talk about a crazy TikTok trend that supposably gets rid of acne (although it sounds like it would have the opposite effect), and we discuss an Emergency Alert Test that went out to MILLIONS of people… on accident. Of course it happened in Florida and the alarm sounded in the early morning hours, when most people are still sleeping. Get the details, and hear what government officials had to say about the test, in the podcast episode at the bottom of this page.
We spend way too much time talking about a drug store in Indiana that is going out of business after 71 years. No, we’re not impressed on how long it was open, we’re impressed with their name, and more importantly, their marketing. “Butt Drugs,” announced they would be shutting their doors. Originally founded by William Butt, a pharmacist, the drug store was in his family for three generations, and they took advantage of their unique name – They sold bumper stickers, had catchy jingles, and even had milkshakes, which they referred to as “Butt Shakes.” We’re… “bummed” we never made our way through Indiana to check out this business before they closed.
Did you do your homework? We go over your answers to our Facebook Topic “What 90s movies are so bad, they’re good,” which may have us adding to our list for our Under a Rock Reviews. And speaking of our Under a Rock Reviews, Naomi finds herself carefully tip-toeing her way through the 1974 comedy (now considered inappropriate and tasteless), “Blazing Saddles.” Did she like the movie? Can she answer any of the review questions without backlash? This is a tough one! Check out the review in the podcast episode below:
