Luke and Naomi make their way to Virginia Beach to check out one of Naomi’s “bucket-list” bands. Check out the photos from all the fun.
We had a little weekend getaway, a mini-roadtrip up to Virginia Beach. The point was to see a concert, but we always try to make the most out of our trips, and we try to do a couple of fun things while we’re in a new area. We only had one day – Saturday. We left Wilmington Saturday morning, took our time getting to Virginia Beach (but not too much time – We didn’t want to miss the show), and spent the night in one of the cheapest hotels we could find near the venue. In the morning, we made our way back to Wilmington, and that was it! The weekend was over! But that’s okay, we packed a lot in those few hours.
On our way up to the show, we stopped in a small town called River Bend. There, we found a cute little coffee shop that had a Christmas Tree up… In July! The fancy coffee drinks we got were MORE than delicious!
Once we arrived in Virginia Beach, we checked into our hotel, got settled, and then decided we needed to find some food before the show. An adult soda was also on our mind. After searching and looking at reviews, we decided to try this brewery called New Realm Brewing. This place was beautiful! It had a stage, cute outdoor seating, even beer taps outside, and they had food.
After a beverage and a snack (who are we kidding, it was definitely a meal!), we made our way back to the hotel to freshen up and catch our Uber to the concert. Luckily, we were staying less than five miles from the venue.
There, we caught one of Naomi’s “bucket list” bands, a group she has known well since seventh grade, “Fall Out Boy.” The rest of the night was filled with dancing, singing, and just having fun! They played some of their big hits like “My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark” and “Dance, Dance,” along with new songs from their latest album like “Love From The Other Side” and “Hold Me Like A Grudge.” They also played one of Naomi’s favorite songs from them, the first one she ever heard from Fall Out Boy, “Chicago Is So Two Years Ago.” And as most bands do, they had to play a couple of covers. We got to hear their version of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing.” Even crazier?! They performed Ozzy Osbourne’s “Crazy Train,” and it was awesome!
The next morning, we checked out of the hotel, grabbed a quick bite, and hit the road. On our way home, we found a farm to stop at that had fresh cantaloupe, tomatoes, corn, and other veggies and fruits. Obviously, we had to bring some home.
Check out the pictures from our fun little getaway. What was just a quick drive to see a concert, turned into a pretty full weekend.
