Hello and welcome to another episode of Luke and Naomi On-Air: The Podcast. Thanks so much for joining us!
We dive right in with a little plug to our side project “Sips and Snacks.” That’s where we go to Fermental in the Cargo District in Wilmington, and meet with Ashley Rogers to pair beer and wine with everyday snacks. We posted our second video of Sips and Snacks featuring Cool Ranch Doritos, which you can find on our YouTube Channel as well as right here.
And speaking of the beer and wine guru Ashley Rogers, we found out he’s part of a skeeball league – Brewskee-Ball. Not only that, but he’s really good. So good, he has the nickname of Skeebron James! Anyway, he talked us into checking out the league and coming out to roll a few… and now, well, it looks like we’ll probably be getting a team together and playing in the league.
We also talk about “picklegate,” the latest scandal to take over the internet world. It all started when someone posted a video wondering why their jar of pickles didn’t say “pickles” on it. There’s a lot of theories to why this is, like maybe it has to be brined with specific ingredients to be called a pickle? Naomi even gets up and heads to the fridge to see if the jar of pickles we have, actually says “pickles,” and to all our surprise, it doesn’t! Come to find out, it’s a really simple reason to why all the jars don’t say “pickles” on them. Why waste ink or lettering or valuable space on labels. The jars are clear and you can tell that there are pickles on the inside. That’s it. Sometimes there’s no hidden meaning or scandal going on, it’s just what it is. Funny to watch everyone go nuts over it though, isn’t it?
We’re not sure if we’ll have another Luke and Naomi On-Air: The Podcast episode next week as we head into the Labor Day Holiday weekend, but you will have another Sips and Snacks video to check out. We even let you know the snack – Double Stuf Oreos! That video can be found on our YouTube Channel, and under the “Photos and Videos” section on our website’s homepage. In the meantime, you can check out our Podcast video at the bottom of this page for more details on all the stories above, as well as your weekly dose of “Did You Know,” your answers to our Facebook topic, “Make a band name edible,” and more.
And of course we have another Under a Rock Review for you. This week, Naomi sits down and watches the 1987’s gangster movie “The Untouchable.” Prohibition, crime, drama, bootlegging, and Sean Connery and Robert De Niro?! Naomi is in! But how did she like the movie? What was her least favorite part? Would she recommend this movie to someone else? Find out these answers, hear her review, and more, all in Podcast Episode 58 here:
