For the first part of our trip to Costa Rica, we flew into Liberia Guanacaste Airport, rented a car, and drove a couple of hours up into the mountains to Upala where we stayed in some cute cabins in a very remote area. We saw some of the most beautiful vegetation, soaked in hot springs, and hiked at Volcán Rincón de la Vieja. We also indulged in phenomenal meals, cooked right at the restaurant in front of the cabins where we stayed, and had plenty of adult beverages.
It was an unbelieveable experience that left us feeling grateful for everything we have in the US (adequate plumbing, electricity that doesn’t just occasionally go out, and everything we could need right at our fingertips), but also opened our eyes to a different way of living. This trip has us excited for more traveling adventures.
