Welcome back to another installment of Sips and Snacks. This one it going to be a little bit different, though…
Usually, in our Sips and Snacks adventures, we make our way to Fermental in the Cargo District in Wilmington. There, we meet with the adult beverage guru, Ashley Rogers, who carefully picks the perfect beer and wine to go with the delicious snack we bring along.
You’ll notice we’re not at Fermental for this Sips and Snacks episode.
Don’t worry, Ashley Rogers still picked out a beer and wine to go with our snack. We just did an at-home version for a couple of different reasons, mainly because of our snack choice. This week, we picked the childhood dinner classic, fish sticks. If we would have cooked the fish sticks and then brought them into Fermental, first they would have gotten cold, so it wouldn’t be good. Secondly, it would probably make Fermental smell a little fishy, and I’m sure the other patrons would not appreciate that.
So, we got with Ashley Rogers ahead of time. We told him what snack we were going to do, and he send us a recording of what drinks to buy and why they would go so well with fish sticks.
Are you ready for this episode’s pairing?
This pairing definitely brings back memories of being a kid, having the parents cook up a big batch of fish sticks and french fries or macaroni-and-cheese, and having some red Kool-Aid to wash it all down. It feels a little more “grown up,” (if you can call it that) with the wine pairing. That light, almost-lemony taste works well with the fish. Try it for yourself and let us know what you think!
And as always, thanks for watching another episode of “Sips and Snacks.” We appreciate you!
