We’re back for another episode of Sips and Snacks, where we head to Fermental in the Cargo District, to meet with adult beverage guru Ashley Rogers, and have him pair the perfect beer and wine with our snack of choice.

Usually, before we even head to Fermental, we’ve been in talks with Ashley, and he knows what snack we’re choosing. This gives him time to make a decision, make sure they have the specific beer and wine in stock he wants to use, and let’s him pull out some crazy suggestions from time-to-time.

But we wanted to test out his beer and wine expertise. So this week, we didn’t tell him ahead of time. He had no idea what snack we were going to bring in. He didn’t know if it was going to be a candy bar, some flavor of chips, cookies, cake, anything! We didn’t give him any hints. We told him we would bring in a snack, he would see that snack, and then he would have five minutes to pick a beer and wine from the selection he had available.

Before we go any further, are you ready to hear what this week’s mystery snack was? It was Funyuns! This snack was picked because we honestly thought the onion flavor would make it more challenging for Ashley to pair a beer and wine with it. We REALLY wanted to test out his beverage knowledge.

But after Ashley pulls the mystery snack out of the bag, he doesn’t even seemed phased by it. Check out his reaction, and see how long it takes him to pick out pairing for Funyuns, in the video below. Spoiler Alert: It doesn’t even take him the full five minutes.

Naomi really thought the onion flavor of the Funyuns would make it difficult to prepare, but she was wrong. Ashley knew almost exactly what to do.
