Bizarre Personal Rules, Brewing Beer, and Naomi’s Under a Rock Review of “Robin Hood Prince of Theives” | Podcast Episode 115

Homemade Beer Brewing

We’re moving right along, up to episode 115. Thanks for joining us for another segment of Luke and Naomi On-Air: The Podcast.

If you’re new to the show, welcome. And thanks for checking this out! We’re a married morning show team that have traded in our show on the radio for an online show. You still get some of our morning antics – Our “Daily Dose of ‘Did You Know’,” a topic that we ask you to be a part of, and more! But you also get a few new features, including “Naomi’s Under a Rock Review,” where she reviews classic movies that everyone has already seen… except her. In this week’s episode, you can relive your first watch of Kevin Costner’s “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.”

But we have a few things to get to first, before we jump into the review…

Speaking of Kevin Costner, we revisit the age-old question, “Is Kevin Costner a good actor?” This started on the show (but has been a popular question wayyyyy before us), about two years ago after Naomi watched “Bull Durham” for the first time. She reached out to her mom to see if her mom thought Kevin Costner was a good actor, or if he was just popular at the time. And there’s quite a debate about that, especially when you consider some of his well-known movies: “Dances with Wolves,” “The Postman,” “Untouchables,” “Tin Cup,” “Field of Dreams,” and of course this one, “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.” We continue our discussion of Kevin Costner and his popularity vs. acting abilities in this podcast (You can hear the whole story in the YouTube video at the bottom of this page).

We also talk about “Weird rules you’ve made up for yourself.” This became quite a conversation on Reddit. Rules like, “If you re-tie one shoelace, you have to re-tie the other shoe.” You just have to. They have to match, right? How about a rule like “when you meet someone, you cannot swear in front of them, until they swear in front of you first.” Do you find yourself following that rule? What about “if you wake up in the middle of the night, you cannot look at the time”? Naomi and Luke are in disagreement about this one. Check out all the weird rules in the podcast video below, and feel free to add yours to the “comment section” at the bottom of this page!

We also talk about a local Battle of the Bands event, share some details of our first time brewing beer, have some random facts for you (your daily dose of “Did You Know”), and we talk about a crazy Airbnb nightmare that’s got us questioning using the site for future renting.

And we go over answers from our topic last week – Words and phrases you say wrong on purpose. We have a lot of fun with that! Of course, we kick off another topic for next week, as well. Let’s set the scene – You’ve been kidnapped. But 25 minutes later your kidnapper dumps you on the side of the road because you wouldn’t stop talking about… What? What item or topic are you so obsessed with that you could drive anyone (including a kidnapper) absolutely nuts? Leave your answers on our Luke and Naomi On-Air Facebook Page, and listen next week when we go over some of our favorite answers.

Alright, it’s that time. The moment you’ve been waiting for… Naomi’s “Under a Rock Review.” This week, she sits down to watch the 1991 movie “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.” Did she like the movie? What did she think about Kevin Costner’s acting in this one? And how about his accent? Would she recommend this film to someone who hasn’t seen it before?
