Hey! We’re back! It’s Luke and Naomi On-Air: The Podcast. Thanks for joining us for another episode.
If you’re new to Luke and Naomi On-Air, welcome! We’re a former radio morning show team who have moved from the dial to the interwebs. We still do some of the same “bits” from our radio days – interesting stories and topics, interactive chats, all that, but we’ve also added a few new features including Naomi’s “Under a Rock” movie reviews. Re-live your first watch of favorite films like “Ghostbusters,” “Rocky,” “Top Gun,” and more, through Naomi’s eyes, who’s watching for the first time! And if you haven’t seen one of these classic movies, should you? She’ll let you know. We have another great movie review coming up, and Luke will be chiming in on this one, because it’s his FIRST WATCH, too!
But first…
We have a few other things to get to.
Let’s kick things off with an update on birthday celebrations. We are in the thick of birthday season in the Luke and Naomi household. Naomi celebrated her birthday last week (and all last month), and Luke just celebrated his birthday, but will continue to for a few days. That’s just how we do birthdays around here. We did a lot – Lots of cake, a beach trip, FEAST Wilmington, checked out a new brewery, a brunch date, ice cream and pizza for Luke’s birthday, music trivia at DrumTrout… Whew! It was a great birthday! For both of us!
But the birthday celebrations continue with news from Luke’s family and them making a trip to Wilmington next weekend. AND Naomi’s family calling (out of the blue) looking to make a trip to Wilmington, too! So… We may be off for a few weeks as we host family, but we’ll see what happens.
We have more birthday talk, and celebrities that share our birthdays. But we also have your recurrent dose of “Did You Know” – Luke’s random facts, and we talk a little bit of sports (shoutout to Michigan!)
Let’s talk about champagne. More specifically, fake champagne. Expensive fake champagne. Now, we are in no way dogging the sober movement or anything like that. If you don’t want champagne, fine, there are other options. Sparkling cider is a fantastic one. We are dogging an expensive brand that has made champagne and took the alcohol out of it. Save a couple bucks and buy the cider, it probably tastes better, too! Hear the full story and find out how much they’re charging for this, in the video at the bottom of this page.
Alright, it’s time to get to the best part – Naomi’s “Under a Rock” movie review. This is actually an “Under a Rock” review for Luke, as well, so he’ll have some input. We sat down to watch the 2006 favorite, “The Devil Wears Prada,” starring Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci. What did we think of it? Does it still hold up, 20 years later? Would we recommend it to someone who hasn’t seen it? Find out these answers and more, in this week’s podcast episode, right here:
